Just to let you know

I wanted to pop in to say I don’t have a project for you today or for the next couple of days.  Christmas Eve is just so busy and I was busy yesterday spending time with my two granddaughters who have to go to their father’s for Christmas.  I couldn’t miss this time with them.  So I spent most of the day being silly with them, making cookies, drinking a cup of Christmas tea,  watching a Christmas movie and then tonight having a Christmas meal with them and then opening our gifts to them.  We had the best time and I am going to miss them so much the next couple of days.

I will be back on Monday with something new to share.  I promise.  For now I leave you with this old English Christmas song;

Christmas is coming,

the goose is getting fat

Who will put a penny in the old man’s hat?

If you don’t have a penny

then half a penny will do

If you don’t have half a penny

Then God bless you!

God bless you all and have a Merry Christmas!

Those Moments-page 5

Whew!  Another day of Christmas preparation and I am exhausted.  I did get some time my scrapping studio and did this page for my daughter’s album.  I’m getting close to being done and hope to get at least 2 done tomorrow.

In the morning, I get the privilege of having two of my granddaughter spend the morning with me.  I hope I can crave some time out to bake some cookies and that will provide me with some excellent photo opportunities!  Can’t wait.

Every once in a a while there are moments that make you proud ,or make you take a moment to reflect ,or make you cry, or take your breath away, and I don’t think that any Christmas should pass without at least one of those moments.  That’s why I created this page for my daughter.  I know how proud she is of her 3 boys and we are proud too.  That’s part of the reason we scrap, isn’t it!  We want to get those moments down on paper and keep the pictures that represent them safe for the future.

I love the colors on this LO.  It has a sort of peaceful elegance to it and if truth be told, I am more of an elegant scrapper than a cutesy one.  I like cutesy but it’s not my first reaction to a scrapping challenge.

This paper is from last year’s Premium Christmas stack.  The cardstock is Bazzill except for the title which doesn’t show up that great in this photo,  which is Core’dinations.  That gold gel was in use again. I like to carry a detail like this throughout an album once I start it.

The title and the pine branch are from Winter Woodlands. I used the shadow feature to cut the title because I didn’t want the fine detail of the regular font.  That pine branch, well let’s just say there is something to be said about the simplicity of it!  It seemed to me—enough. The tags from this page are from Winter Woodlands page 43 and the ones from yesterday are from page 44. That little corner cut is from Storybook page 50.  When this cart came out I bought it immediately and I can’t tell you how often I pull it out for just this kind of cut.  Those fancy corners sort of echo the design of the paper and I cut them from Core’dinations Gemstone paper.

Cutting something this tiny and fine when using your Gypsy or Design Studio can be really challenging when you can’t regulate the speed, and to get my Cricut to cut it,I set the blade depth at 4, the pressure at 3 and I set it to multi cut at 2. Anytime I have an intricate cut and I’m using my Gypsy or Design Studio and I can’t regulate the speed, I use this method to get those tiny, fine cuts.  Works almost every time.

How about some close-ups?

I added the rhinestones for some bling.  It’s hard for me to resist bling. I’m a girl!  Show me a jewelry box and I swoon. I feel similarly about bling!  I think you can see the luster of that gemstone paper in the title and those tiny corners.

Now for the tags!  I’ve had this brushed silver trees for a while and thought they might look good on these tags. They do!

Sweet Treats Page 4

It’s another page from my daughter’s Christmas album, and I’ve also been working on a scrapbook page for one of grandsons who has a birthday in December.  I have two grandsons born in December only 5 days apart, and they are both sweeter than sweet.  I’ll share that page later on.

P1070506

Who doesn’t bake during the holidays and I know my daughter does some, so I included this page to record some of those treats or the moments made while making them.  This is one page I did quite a while ago.

P1070507

I welded the cupcakes together with Design Studio and they are cut from Hello Kitty. I used some white stickles to make them and the title look iced.  The title is from Base Camp and I am sure that I cut it at 1” on this page and on every other page.  The snowflake is from Accent Essentials on page 44 and the flower is also from Accent Essentials.  I added the button for extra texture and interest.

P1070508I carried on with lots of faux stitching and inking and here it is with a gold gel pen and ink.

Can I just say that these tags are some of my favorites.  As a matter of fact the tags in this project are the best part as far as I’m concerned.

P1070509

How cute is that!  And I got that tag from I don’t remember where!  But I like it!

P1070510

These, like the others, can hold journaling on one side and a picture on the other. Those snowflake embellishments are from a huge bag of Christmas buttons and embellies from several years ago, and I added a green rhinestone to the center.  It really snazzed these tags up!

Oh, Christmas is getting close and I am not getting any closer to getting my long list done. I’d better get to crackin’!

More of the Christmas Album

Are you busy?  I am and it’s getting busier.  Yesterday it was errands and a hair appointment for me, and today it’s a grooming appointment for my little Maisie, and I’ll be picking up our little Chaz to spend the night and day.  There is nothing like having a 2 year-old around at Christmas.  I’ve got lots to do here at home including cleaning and baking.  Sigh!  However, it’s all good, right!  It’s Christmas and all the extras including the busyness make it that much more special.

On with the album!

P1070500

For this page I let the tags and a few snowflakes be the only embellishments.  The font is from Alphalicous and the Merry Christmas is on the paper.  The snowflakes are once again from Joys of the Season pages 38 and 39 and are cut from that velvet paper.

P1070501

I added some dots to help define the title, and you can see the faux stitching I did on the photo mats.  Those scalloped edges are courtesy of my decorative scissors!  Yes, those scissors we all had to have if we’ve scrapped for a while and have since relinquished to a drawer or garage sale! I try every one in a while to pull out an old tool and give it the light of day and a continued life of usefulness.  You can see that I used a triple mat on this page.

P1070502

I love this tag pocket and tags!  I don’t know why but this Santa from Christmas cheer always makes me smile.

P1070503

Isn’t he adorable?  Lots of gold inking on this and gold swirls and faux stitching done with a gold gel pen on these tags.

P1070504

There is lots of room for photos or journaling on these tags.

P1070505

And that’s it for today.  I may be able to post another page later, but I’ll have to see  if I get any extra time in my scrapping studio. I hope you all very productive and happy days.

A Christmas Album

Last year I made or attempted to make a quick album that my daughters and daughter-in-law could pop their Christmas pictures into.  I ran into the problem though that I could not get another pack of the paper I had originally chosen to use.  I got two of them made and then I had to use a different set of papers.  The original pack of paper was the Fall Seasons pack from Debbie Mumm and was quite whimsical and cute.  Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take any pictures because one of my daughters and my daughter-in-law snatched them out of my hands before I could snap any photos.  However, I did not finish the third album and it has been languishing in a project box in my scrapping studio for the whole year.  My oldest daughter is very understanding and patient. I got a little carried away with this album and made way too many pages! I do that most of the time! Anyway I need to finish it before my daughter gets here the Sunday after Christmas. So I thought I’d share what I’ve done so far.  I hope you enjoy it!  P1070486

When I was thinking of these albums I thought I wanted to actually give the girls complete 12x12 LO pages to hold all their photos, so I came up with splitting the 12x12 sheets down the middle and binding them with my Bind it all.

The is paper is from the premium DCWV stack from 2009.  I used both of the sheets from the pack, and the second to cut the ornaments from and pop dot on top of the ones on the first sheet!  Understand?  I also used real ribbon to cover the printed ones.  It turned out OK.

P1070487

This paper was double sided so I had to glue two sheets back to back to get the same paper for both sides for the album.  This added extra heft to the album and made it much sturdier.  On this photo, you can also see the dimension added with the pop dots.

P1070488

One of my goals with this project, was to give as many spaces to put photos as possible.  With this in mind I limited my pages embellishments to the pocket of the two pages where I put several tags.  I love the idea of these tags and as you’ll see as I progress through the album that they turned out quite nice.

The sleigh comes from page 23 of Joys of the Season and the snowflakes are page 40.

One more 2 page spread . . . .

The trees are from Christmas Cheer page 32.

P1070498

The title comes form Winter Woodlands and I welded it with Design Studio.  It’s cut from some velvet paper that I love.

P1070493Do you see all pen work on this tag pocket?  I did so much of this kind of work on these pages and it adds to the pages without taking up much space.  I also added Stickles to the trees.

P1070494

P1070495

These tags are spectacular.  At least I think so!  I had those brads forever and finally found a use for them.

P1070496

Well that’s it for today.  I’ll be adding more pages was the week progresses.

BBTB2 Challenge Card

Over on BBTB2 the challenge was to use this wreath on Joys of the Season.normal_JoysoftheSeason_page45

Now I love that wreath and have used it many time ssince my husband bought me that cart for my birthday the first year I had my Cricut.  I wanted to give it a special twist and came up with this.

P1070427

The card is 5 1/2” and I cut the wreath at 5”.  I also pulled the twigs and pine cones from the same cart just one page away.  normal_JoysoftheSeason_page46

I think I cut this at 4” and I used that great Core’dinations gemstone brown that I love for the swirly twigs and some wonderful buffed gold that I got at Joann’s for the pine cones.  Unfortunately you can’t see all that shine!  For the wreath I used two shades of green Core’dinations and some velvet green paper that I have had forever.  I bought several 8 1/2 x 11” sheets a long time ago and have used it every holiday season since.  You can’t see the velvet either.Smile with tongue out The base of the card is from one of the new premium Christmas DCWV 2010 stacks.  So pretty!

I heat embossed the sentiment, but I had a little bit of a problem with this so it didn’t turn out as great as I’d hoped.  All in all though, I like the card and not the sentiment.

Here’s some more shots of the card.  P1070428

P1070429

There, now you can see the velvet paper.

P1070430

And there you can see the gemstone cardstock and sort of see the great gold paper.

It’s on to the weekend and thanks for stopping by!

MPS Challenge Card

I’m a little slow on the draw but I finally did the color challenge over My Pink Stamper. So because I needed to create a few cards to send to some aunts and uncles, I made some time to make this card.

P1070421

2 colors of pink Thumbs up

2 colors of blueThumbs up

and blackThumbs up

Got it!

I used the tree from Paper Dolls Dress UP at 5” and dressed it up with some white puffy paint and some silver and blue glitter.  I cut out two, one brown and one pink!  Oh, I like this tree!  I added a huge pink rhinestone at the top because I didn’t have  a big pink star! However I did have some little pink stars!

The black starry sky is from ZooBallou!  Crazy, huh, what you can find when you go back and explore those old cartridges!  It makes the card look kind of wavy, and I almost cut it square but resisted the urge.   I added some sort of turquoise cardstock behind the black and some blue and turquoise patterned paper that I punched with my Threading Water punch and some organza ribbon.  Perfection.

I am ready for my close up Mr. De Mille!  Uh, sorry, a little old movie humor.
