A Heart and a Cow

I’ve got two cards for you today.   They are both for my husband and are tied to the little gifts I give him.  My husband loves candy—more than me, so some of my little gifts are candy and these two cards will accompany candy he likes.  This first card is going to accompany some Fire Balls.  He loves these.  He will be so happy.

That heart comes from Indie Heart and it’s the first image I’ve used from this cartridge.  It seemed the right choice for this card.  It’s a 5x7” card and the paper is from DCWV and the cardstock is a mix of scraps from my scrap drawers. The phrase is cut from Pooh font and the wood feature.  I welded the phrase with my Gypsy.

P1070936

I sprayed the heart with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist Gold, and when I was done I held it in front of my little space heater because I wanted it to dry fast and this caused the strange looking mottling and cracking!  I like it!  It wasn’t my intent but I like it!  P1070941

This next card is sort of silly but I really like how it tuned out and I think Jim will get a laugh out of it.  It sort of just came to me and I made the cut file with my Gypsy.

This card will accompany a box of Milk Duds. P1070944

I know it’s pink but I think it works for the card!  The cow is from Paper Doll Dress Up, and I cut it out 4 times.  I cut it once in pink for the face and udders, once in tan for the horns, once in black and once in white.  I used my little scissors and cut the spots out on the white to give the cow some spots.  I trimmed off the hooves, the tail as well as the very top of the head.  Looks pretty good I think.  The font is Alphalicious and was welded with my Gypsy.  The cartoon bubble is from Smiley Cards and scalloped rectangle is from Mini Monograms and I stretched it one way.  The patterned pattern is from DCWV All Dressed Up Stack.  Cute, huh!

This card is another 5x7 and when I embossed the pink card stock with my Cuttlebug, I had to do it in several passes. It’s easy with the Dotted Swiss folder because it’s so easy to match the pattern.

And that’s it for today.  I’ll be working in my studio putting together some new projects because we are in the middle of a major winter storm complete with freezing rain and massive inches of snow!.  I’m so happy I am be warm and snug in my house.

MPS Challenge Card

I’m a little slow on the draw but I finally did the color challenge over My Pink Stamper. So because I needed to create a few cards to send to some aunts and uncles, I made some time to make this card.

2 colors of pink Thumbs up

2 colors of blueThumbs up

and blackThumbs up

Got it!

I used the tree from Paper Dolls Dress UP at 5” and dressed it up with some white puffy paint and some silver and blue glitter.  I cut out two, one brown and one pink!  Oh, I like this tree!  I added a huge pink rhinestone at the top because I didn’t have  a big pink star! However I did have some little pink stars!

The black starry sky is from ZooBallou!  Crazy, huh, what you can find when you go back and explore those old cartridges!  It makes the card look kind of wavy, and I almost cut it square but resisted the urge.   I added some sort of turquoise cardstock behind the black and some blue and turquoise patterned paper that I punched with my Threading Water punch and some organza ribbon.  Perfection.

I am ready for my close up Mr. De Mille!  Uh, sorry, a little old movie humor.

Monday and Gingerbread

For years I’ve made applesauce cinnamon gingerbread boys to hang in the garland in my kitchen.  It’s an every year thing and I started to think about doing it with my Cricut.  Now if I had a Cricut Cake, I might make the dough and cut it with the Cricut cake, but I don’t.  Any body out there game for this?

Since I only have the Expression, I pulled out some nice gingery brown cardstock and the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge, set my expression at 3 1/2” and cut the boy and girl gingerbread people.

For the girl I cut 1 of the brown cardstock, 1 red, and one of chipboard.  I removed the head, arms, and legs of the red which left me with the dress.  I also took a piece of green cardstock and glued it behind the two hearts on the skirt so that you can’t see through it and so that I could add some green glitter glue.  Then I assembled the three pieces.

Before I slipped a length of ribbon between the brown cardstock and the chipboard, then I pressed the two pieces closed.

P1070355

See this stuff!  I’ve had it forever! I use it whenever I want something to look like it’s got snow or icing. Works great!

P1070358

See!  It looks great.  I still have to add the bow  and the glitter hearts on the gingerbread girls.  I also used black stickles dots for the eyes.

P1070360P1070361

Cute, huh!

The little boys were less work but they still turned out great.

From here I did the same things as for the gingerbread girls except where the hearts are I added little red buttons.

Here is what they look like in my garland over my sink.  P1070365

I still have several little bits of magic I am going to add to these and my kitchen, and I‘ll post pictures of the whole kitchen.  Until then . . .

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . .

Scraps left on my work table

Yep!  I did it again!  I looked at the scraps left from doing the Halloween Countdown book and decided to make a couple of cards.  Now I barely touched the heap of scrap left but I did use some of the cuts.

Here’s a representative look at the pile of scraps leftover from the book:

P1060721 And here’s the two quick cards I created with them.

P1060722

I used a Studio G $1 stamp for the sentiment and none for the spider card since the paper had so many words on it.  The little pumpkins and the spider’s web behind the spider are also a studio G $1 stamps. I colored the pumpkins with my BIC markers and then used orange Stickles and cut them out.  The cuts are from Cricut cartridge Paper Doll Dress Up.

How about some close ups?

And . . .

Now I am off to work on some projects for next week and to do some of that pesky housework!

Halloween Countdown pages

It’s been a bit busy here, but I have been working away on the pages of the Countdown book.  Yesterday I spent a big part of the day doing laundry for our weekend trip and making embellishments with my Cricut, lots of Stickles and whatever else I needed.  Once again, the nasty cutting mat!  P1060519

The cuts are all from Paper Doll Dress Up except for the candy corn which I made by gluing an orange and yellow strip of paper to a inch strip of white paper and then cutting the angles and rounding the corners. Easy Peasy!  This cart has so cuts I’ve used, and I don’t often use the paper dolls.  It’s a great all purpose graphics cart.

So here is a bunch of pictures from the album. They are pretty simple because the book will be handled a lot by children and too many fussy details would be destroyed unintentionally by little hands.

Hopefully I’ll be able to post more pages this evening.  Right now I’ve got a couple of errands to run!
