Morning, Coffee and U—another valentine

I’ve got 14 Valentines to make for my 14 days of Valentine’s for my hubby, remember! I do and I have to get more than one done every week.  I used the sketch over on Mojo Monday to guide me and let My Pink Stamper provide the subject—something yummy and I had my card.

Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my card:

P1070910

I used a sheet of paper from that Ever After pack of Cosmo Cricket for the base of the card and a sheet from My Mind Eye’s Love Nest for the top of the card.  The card stock is all scraps from my scrap drawers.  I love it when I use what I have and see my scrap drawers start to dwindle down to nothing.  It’ll be a while until that happens but I am working on it!

The sun like piece behind the coffee cup cut at 3” and the 3 hearts are from Accent Essentials. The coffee cup is from Christmas Cheer and is cut at almost 2”.  I used the contour and hide feature to hide the steamy swirls  that come out of the cup. Then I cut out the center of the mug so that it would look like coffee in the cup. The font is Printing press and I welded it with my Gypsy.  The lettering is cut at 1” except for the U and it is cut at about 1 1/4”.  P1070911P1070912P1070913

Sweet Treats Page 4

It’s another page from my daughter’s Christmas album, and I’ve also been working on a scrapbook page for one of grandsons who has a birthday in December.  I have two grandsons born in December only 5 days apart, and they are both sweeter than sweet.  I’ll share that page later on.

P1070506

Who doesn’t bake during the holidays and I know my daughter does some, so I included this page to record some of those treats or the moments made while making them.  This is one page I did quite a while ago.

P1070507

I welded the cupcakes together with Design Studio and they are cut from Hello Kitty. I used some white stickles to make them and the title look iced.  The title is from Base Camp and I am sure that I cut it at 1” on this page and on every other page.  The snowflake is from Accent Essentials on page 44 and the flower is also from Accent Essentials.  I added the button for extra texture and interest.

P1070508I carried on with lots of faux stitching and inking and here it is with a gold gel pen and ink.

Can I just say that these tags are some of my favorites.  As a matter of fact the tags in this project are the best part as far as I’m concerned.

P1070509

How cute is that!  And I got that tag from I don’t remember where!  But I like it!

P1070510

These, like the others, can hold journaling on one side and a picture on the other. Those snowflake embellishments are from a huge bag of Christmas buttons and embellies from several years ago, and I added a green rhinestone to the center.  It really snazzed these tags up!

Oh, Christmas is getting close and I am not getting any closer to getting my long list done. I’d better get to crackin’!

Jesus is the Reason for the Season!

I don’t know about all of you, but I am having trouble getting my very long to-do list done!  That usually means my expectations are getting too great for me to meet.  It’s Christmas and I usually push to get more done than usual.

But there’s really only one important thing to remember at this time of year though we are tempted to get caught up in the secular celebration and forget that Christmas really belongs to believers who want to celebrate their Savior’s birth.  I made this banner to help me remember.  And though I’ve spent every spare moment I’ve had for the past two days to finish it, I have used that time thinking about the place I’ve prepared in my heart for the baby who would come to die for my sins and to redeem me!

Even though the project isn’t complicated, it did take time to do faux stitching on all the pieces.  I also had to photograph it in two sections because it is way too long.   I will add this banner to the garland that goes along the top of the bannister in my living room.  It’ll look grand there! I promise to take pictures when I get it up. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

P1070334

P1070335The pennant and its shadow are cut from Sports Mania and are cut at 5”, and the scalloped circle and its shadow are cut are 4 1/2”. and are from Accent Essentials.   The snowflake is from A Child’s Year and it and its shadow are cut at 4”. The letters are from Winter Woodlands at 3 1/2”.  I also used Base Camp for the welded phrase “is the”.  Of course I used  my Gypsy to weld the phrase and to plan the banner.

The paper is a great mish mash of stuff from my stash.  The pennant patterned paper is one of my all time favs and several years ago I bought about 10 sheets to use for one scrapbook.  That scrapbook didn’t come to be, but I’ve enjoyed that paper like crazy!  I think it is K&Company.  I also used several sheets of Karen Foster.  Love it too.  The cardstock is all from Core’dinations.  The ribbon is some I’ve had forever.  I am so glad I’ve been making quite a dent in my paper and ribbon stash! I am all about using what I have.

Now for some close ups!

Hats off to Everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged.  I’ve been super busy with Thanksgiving and getting my house cleaned and ready.  But today I was able to get back in my little pink studio and do some work with paper. Yippee, it was so much fun!

I’ve been making these little hats for all the girls in my family.  I had 7 to make, and I’m almost done.  I’ve got one more to do and then one I am making one with a scarf to match for a girl at my work.  The hats certainly look like Christmas.

P1070283

You can find the pattern for these hats here: Red Heart Yarn  The hats are easy and go pretty fast.  It’s a nice little project to make for someone you want to share Christmas joy with.  It’s inexpensive too!  I made three hats with one skein of red yarn and a little of the off white.

I thought I’d give this last hat in a little gift bag.  The gift bag went together fast and turned out very festive.  I used the one of the purses from Forever Young and a swirl from Accent Essentials, added some Prima paper flowers, a jewel, some faux gold stitching and ta-da—a nice little gift bag.

P1070282

The card stock is Core’dinations and the patterned paper is from one of the 2010 Premium Homemade Christmas Stack DCWV stacks. The gold paper is from the  DCWV Glitter stack

Oh, I starting to feel soooooo . . . Christmassy!

A Change of Pace

Thanksgiving is next week and I’ve got so much to do.  I’m feeling a little panicked.  I’ve got less and less time to spend in my little studio creating so the projects I’m doing are tending to be less involved.  Right now I’m making ornaments for the little Christmas tree I’m putting in my studio.  The ornaments will all be in pink, turquoise and black.

I am going to share two of them with you now.  P1070158P1070159

This first one is about 15 triangles shaped in a ball.  Does anyone know what this shape is called?  Any way, I got an email this week from Right AT Home with a link to the pattern for this little ball and several other shapes.  The site actually had printable patterns that already had Christmas designed paper you could choose from.  I didn’t really care for any of the patterns, so I just printed out a couple of the patterns and used them to do my own thing.

I traced the pattern on the back of my own paper, cut it out and scored all the folds.  Then I started folding and gluing all the  tabs. The directions for both the patterns I used are not the greatest but they weren’t that hard to figure out.  When I was done I had a little ball made of triangles.  It came to me that each triangle needed a flower.  I cut out two of the daisy cut from Doodlecharms, one at 1” and one at 1 1/4  for each flower, bent the petals up and used my black Stickles to put a black center in each flower.  Then I glued a flower onto each triangle.  I had to hot glue the ribbon to the top for the hanger.  I love the way it turned out.

This star was on the Right AT Home site too.  The flourish is from Accent Essentials and I cut it in half.  Not so happy with this one but I’ve got some ideas on how to improve it.  Both papers are from last year’s DCWV’s regular Christmas stack.  I’ll have two more for you all Saturday!

Blessings

We all have them and usually take so little time to think about how truly  blessed we are! As I was creating this banner I did take the time to think about how blessed I am .  That’s what Thanksgiving is about.  We come together in the abundance of our blessings to remember and possibly to think about where we would be without all the things every day that cushion our lives in some way.

Here is my Blessings banner.  I really like the way it turned out.  However, it is long and was hard to get a whole picture of, so the first picture is just a picture of the whole thing.

P1070136

Oh, I am going to have adjust that banner when I get home, and I am really not sure where I want to put it.  For now it hangs in my family room very lop sided.

Now here’s a close up!

P1070139

EW!  Blurry!  That’s what I get for photographing it at night with no natural light and in a hurry.

The base of this banner started with a tag from Gypsy Wanderings cut at 6.75 and 4.75”.  Since I got my Gypsy, I’ve used the designer tag feature so many times I can not count.  It’s got great tags and in so many shapes.  I also used Sports Mania for the pennant shape at 5”x 3“, and because I don’t have Tie the Knot, I took the scalloped border from Accent Essentials and used two for each side at 3.45 x .45,  and welded it to the sides of the pennant. Then I cut a regular pennant out just a smidge smaller.  The scalloped circle cut at 2.91 x3.22 is from Mini Monograms, and I can’t remember where I got the leaf swirl.  The fonts used are Cuttin Up and Blackletter.  I used pop dots between the layers.

The patterned paper is from a fall stack of DCWV from several years ago and the card stock is a mixture of Bazzill and Core’dinations.  I used some Stickles on the leaves and the ribbon is Hobby Lobby from their fall collection a couple of years ago.  I love the colors and think it turned out quite striking in appearance.

OK, on with some more close ups.

Vroom-Vroom—A SOUS Sketch!

I saw this sketch over on Stuck on U Sketches and thought it was perfect for these pictures of our little Chaz playing with this race car toy. He got so much joy out of it.  His uncle Norm sat very patiently with him until he learned how it worked.  I think he was about 15 months old.  He still loves any thing with wheels.  It was really hard to get any good photos because of the light coming in through the window and because he is so darned fast.  I had to scrap them anyway.

P1070051

I fell in love with this Crate Paper a couple of years when I saw it at my local scrapbooking store.  I bought the whole line.  Sadly the store closed and the only places I have locally to shop at are Hobby Lobby and Joann’s.  Oh, how I miss Two Scrappy Cats!  Boo hoo!  There is a whole lot to be said about a local scrapbooking store. Anyway I bought the paper for another purpose but since I’d bought the whole line, I thought I could use these three sheets here.  So cute.

The card stock comes from my two favorites companys Bazzill and Cordinations plus some scraps from my trusty scrap drawers. When I looked at this paper I immediately thought of this wheel like cut on Accent Essentials.  I cut the big one at 7” and the smaller ones at 1 1/2 and 2”.  The font is Mickey and the car is from Mickey and Friends. The journaling stamp is a Hobby Lobby Stampendous Stamp.  I say it again!  SO CUTE!  I love the way this turned out.  Thank you SOUS for this great sketch!  Now for some close-ups!
