Morning, Coffee and U—another valentine

I’ve got 14 Valentines to make for my 14 days of Valentine’s for my hubby, remember! I do and I have to get more than one done every week.  I used the sketch over on Mojo Monday to guide me and let My Pink Stamper provide the subject—something yummy and I had my card.

Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my card:

P1070910

I used a sheet of paper from that Ever After pack of Cosmo Cricket for the base of the card and a sheet from My Mind Eye’s Love Nest for the top of the card.  The card stock is all scraps from my scrap drawers.  I love it when I use what I have and see my scrap drawers start to dwindle down to nothing.  It’ll be a while until that happens but I am working on it!

The sun like piece behind the coffee cup cut at 3” and the 3 hearts are from Accent Essentials. The coffee cup is from Christmas Cheer and is cut at almost 2”.  I used the contour and hide feature to hide the steamy swirls  that come out of the cup. Then I cut out the center of the mug so that it would look like coffee in the cup. The font is Printing press and I welded it with my Gypsy.  The lettering is cut at 1” except for the U and it is cut at about 1 1/4”.  P1070911P1070912P1070913

A card, some recycling and a peek!

I’ve been a busy girl today in spite of still feeling under the weather.  When will this crud leave?  Anyway, I’ve started preparing for my annual 14 days of love for my husband.  Everyday I try to have a little gift or treat for him on the 14 days leading up to Valentines Day.  He says he looks forward to it every year.  A couple of years ago I made him a Valentine Love Box that I pull out each year to put his little treats in.  I’ll have to show you all this because I don’t think I’ve share it.  Anyway today I made the first of 14 Valentines for him.  It’s a style of card I’ve never done before and is called a trifold card—I think.  It turn out very nice and I don’t worry about my husband peeking at it because he doesn’t read my blog.  But first I want to give you a sneek peek at a Valentine’s project I hope to share in the next couple of days.

Also I wanted to share some trash that I intend on recycling into Valentine’s projects.  What would you do with these?

P1070795And no, I didn’t eat the WHOLE Big Box meal from Taco Bell!  Bleethp! I’ve got some interesting ideas about these pieces of trash!

Now it’s time for the card.  I’m sorry I should have called this post “A Peek, some trash, and some love.  Anyway, I hope you like the card.

P1070799

There are so many Cricut cuts on this card!  The hearts are from Gypsy Font and are cut at 3 inches for the largest one.  The birds are from the Disney Princess Happily Ever After cart.  With all the bird carts out, I don’t have a single one.  I’m going to have to change that!  The font is also Gypsy, and I welded and maneuvered the letters with my Gyspy.  The photo corners are from one of the first carts released, Jasmine.  It was the first cart I bought after getting my baby bug.  Ah, the old days when you could say you had all the Cricut carts and they numbered under 15. Of course I could never say that!

The paper is a stack that is exclusive from My Minds Eye for Hobby Lobby called Love Nest. I picked it up today with my %40 off coupon. It’s a nice glitter stack and the colors are not all pink and feminine, so I think it will work for some of my Valentines projects.  The card stock was all from my scrap drawers. I’ve got to use those scraps up though my green drawer just keeps getting fuller.

I used my threading water punch for the green cardstock to give a little more interest to this card.  I think it turned out quite nice!

Happy Birthday Julia!

My granddaughter Julia’s birthday is the 22nd of this month but we are celebrating tomorrow.  She is quite the little girl and is growing every day into a sweet, loving person.  Right now she likes the colors orange and yellow and as I was looking through my paper I found this DCWV paper that I’ve had for quite a while and thought Hello Kitty!

So here you go Julia!  I hope you love it!

P1070750

I used Hello Kitty Greetings page 39 and cut it at 5 1/2 inches.  I used the Threading Water punch to edge the orange and green pieces.  I used a hole punch and only punched half way through the edge so I could weave the ribbon through.  It turned out vibrant, sparkly and cute which is exactly what our Julia is!  This card is 5x7.

I am writing a poem that is just for her.  I’ll write in the card for her read at her party.

It’s a great card for a wonderful little girl!

BBTB2 Challenge Card

Over on BBTB2 the challenge was to use this wreath on Joys of the Season.normal_JoysoftheSeason_page45

Now I love that wreath and have used it many time ssince my husband bought me that cart for my birthday the first year I had my Cricut.  I wanted to give it a special twist and came up with this.

P1070427

The card is 5 1/2” and I cut the wreath at 5”.  I also pulled the twigs and pine cones from the same cart just one page away.  normal_JoysoftheSeason_page46

I think I cut this at 4” and I used that great Core’dinations gemstone brown that I love for the swirly twigs and some wonderful buffed gold that I got at Joann’s for the pine cones.  Unfortunately you can’t see all that shine!  For the wreath I used two shades of green Core’dinations and some velvet green paper that I have had forever.  I bought several 8 1/2 x 11” sheets a long time ago and have used it every holiday season since.  You can’t see the velvet either.Smile with tongue out The base of the card is from one of the new premium Christmas DCWV 2010 stacks.  So pretty!

I heat embossed the sentiment, but I had a little bit of a problem with this so it didn’t turn out as great as I’d hoped.  All in all though, I like the card and not the sentiment.

Here’s some more shots of the card.  P1070428

There, now you can see the velvet paper.

And there you can see the gemstone cardstock and sort of see the great gold paper.

It’s on to the weekend and thanks for stopping by!

MPS Challenge Card

I’m a little slow on the draw but I finally did the color challenge over My Pink Stamper. So because I needed to create a few cards to send to some aunts and uncles, I made some time to make this card.

P1070421

2 colors of pink Thumbs up

2 colors of blueThumbs up

and blackThumbs up

Got it!

I used the tree from Paper Dolls Dress UP at 5” and dressed it up with some white puffy paint and some silver and blue glitter.  I cut out two, one brown and one pink!  Oh, I like this tree!  I added a huge pink rhinestone at the top because I didn’t have  a big pink star! However I did have some little pink stars!

The black starry sky is from ZooBallou!  Crazy, huh, what you can find when you go back and explore those old cartridges!  It makes the card look kind of wavy, and I almost cut it square but resisted the urge.   I added some sort of turquoise cardstock behind the black and some blue and turquoise patterned paper that I punched with my Threading Water punch and some organza ribbon.  Perfection.

I am ready for my close up Mr. De Mille!  Uh, sorry, a little old movie humor.

Scraps left on my work table

Yep!  I did it again!  I looked at the scraps left from doing the Halloween Countdown book and decided to make a couple of cards.  Now I barely touched the heap of scrap left but I did use some of the cuts.

Here’s a representative look at the pile of scraps leftover from the book:

P1060721 And here’s the two quick cards I created with them.

P1060722

I used a Studio G $1 stamp for the sentiment and none for the spider card since the paper had so many words on it.  The little pumpkins and the spider’s web behind the spider are also a studio G $1 stamps. I colored the pumpkins with my BIC markers and then used orange Stickles and cut them out.  The cuts are from Cricut cartridge Paper Doll Dress Up.

How about some close ups?

And . . .

Now I am off to work on some projects for next week and to do some of that pesky housework!
