Hanging on Your Door

Last week while browsing on the Cricut Message boards looking at all the really talented people and their amazing projects, I came across one I just know I had to try.  I came across this amazing little door hanger by Happy Life Crafty Wife, and I put it on my list of to-do projects.

Meanwhile, my granddaughter Abigail came down with the flu and so she was really on my mind.  I decided to make my first door hanger for her.  I think it turn out so sweet!

P1070927

I used George and Basic Shapes to make the door hanger and the box on the front to hold treats, and for Abby’s name, I used Ashlyn’s Alphabet. I used Hello Kitty for the Hello Kitty—of course!  The paper is from that My Mind’s Eye Love Nest stack. The ribbon and trim are from Hobby Lobby and the jewel flowers are from Paper Studio’s Gemstones.  I used my threading water border punch for the pink trim on the front edges.  Nice, huh!

It measures about 5” wide and 9” long and the kitty is cut at 4”.

Now Stacey, if you visit and see this, don’t tell Abby about this little treat holder!  P1070928P1070931P1070932P1070933P1070934

The second half of Acts of Love

I had a very busy day! I spent it with my 2 year old grandson and he is a ball of energy.  I am very tired grandma as I write this for all of you tomorrow.  I had a ball with Chaz and am so grateful to have this little boy in my life.  I wouldn’t trade the day we had today for anything.  He is very special.

So here are the last pages of my Acts of Love tag book.  First I want to back up and take a look at the cover.  After I finished it yesterday, I thought the ring looked awfully bare and added some ribbons and fibers. It did help.

That’s it for this project, but I’ll be back tomorrow with something new and I hope inspiring!

Acts of Love—a tag book for 14 days

When I showed you all my Valentine’s Box, I told you that I do something nice for my husband every day for the 14 day leading up to and including Valentines Day.  This year I am upping the ante and trying to add acts of service and love besides my little gifts.  I’ve created this little tag book to set on our family room coffee table to remind me to serve him in love.

We’ve been married for 38 years, and it’s so easy to forget to treat my husband as special as I did when I was trying to win his love.  I feel pretty confident in his love, but I want to keep putting love deposits in his love bank and treating him like a king will do that.

I’m going to show half of the book today and half tomorrow simply because I don’t have the time to post all the pictures.  P1070847

It’s a very simple little book.  I used a tag from Tags, Boxes and Bags and custom size to about 6” long and 4 1/2” wide.  I cut lots of swirls, hearts, butterflies and birds to use while embellishing it.  I used Gypsy Font for the title of the book and some rhinestone swirls as well as a Prima flower from my stash on the cover.

The paper was a package I bought on clearance at Archivers last spring when my husband and I took a little trip to Chicago.  It’s a Cosmo Cricket pack called Everafter and really is a wedding collection, but I don’t have any wedding pictures I wanted to scrap with it and thought I could adapt it to Valentine’s Day.  It worked out nicely.  I really love Cosmo Cricket.

I used I Corinthians 13 as a basis for the book and have put part of the chapter on each page.  I wrote some act of service for each day on the tags, and I will share those with you tomorrow.

Right now I’m just going to show you pictures for the first 7 days.

OK, so really simple, right! More tomorrow!

Family—another lO for Amy’s album

Yep!  Another page LO for that album.  I’ll have it ready next time I see her.  I know she’s going to be happy about that.

P1070724

I like the contrast between the beige and red in this LO.  The poinsettia cut is from the solutions Christmas cart that was part of the 6 cart download for Gypsy owner last December.   I really like the elegance of this cartridge.  The paper is from the 2009 DCWV Christmas stack. Family is from Ashlyn’s Alphabet at 1” inch and using the script feature.

P1070725

Hmmm I didn’t notice that was blurry when I took it, but I was very tired and I was in the process of coughing up a lung when I took the picture, so I guess it’s possible it slipped by!

P1070726

Well, that’s better!

Pretty!

I have to admit these are some of my favorite tags. They are so sweet.  The tag comes from Winter woodlands and so does the poinsettia on the tags.

Every once in while I like to pull out my Fastenater stapler.  The idea of it is always better than the reality.  Still I can’t bring myself to get rid of it.  I love those decorative metal staples.  P1070733

The back of the tag is nice too.  This is from Winter Woodlands—I think.  P1070734

Have a great day all you fellow paper crafters!

An ornament and a pass

No, no one made a pass on me or my ornament.

It’s been a very busy weekend with my next to oldest grandson.  We went to see Harry Potter 7 Part 1 and then to the local Christmas parade.  It was cold!  Brrr!  But not nearly as cold for us as it was for the belly dancers who shimmied down the street with bare midriffs!

We took Cayden back home today and it was a 6 hour trip total so there’s hardly been any time for my little pink studio and all that paper.

I do still have a couple of little projects for you.  One is another ornament for my little studio Christmas tree and the other is  a pass.  First the ornament:

P1070168

This fan is from Ashlyn’s Alphabet and is the second fan.  I used the shadow feature and cut a second fan that I flipped with my Gypsy.  The paper is Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby and the roses are ribbon roses I picked up from the bridal section at Hobby Lobby.  I have a little collections of these as I do so many things. The fan is also edged with Stickles.  It turned out very nice I think.  It’s cut at 3.5”.  I wrapped the handle with ribbon and punched the hole for the ribbon hanger on the side of the fan.

P1070169

I am working on some other ornament ideas I hope to share later in the week.

For my other little project I have some hall passes I made for a friend who teaches high school English.  Her passes have been walking away, so I made a couple of clearly identifiable hall passes.  They turned out cute and very clean looking I think! I laminated them for durability.

P1070155

I gave them a little faux stitching to pull it all together.  I used the icon feature on the Mickey and Friends for the bomb and I used Base Camp for the letters and their shadow. I even used George for the base which is 3 x2”. On the back I used Cuttin UP for the lettering, and I welded all the lettering with my Gypsy.  Love my Gypsy!

P1070157

I’ll be giving Melissa her passes tomorrow and though I know it wasn’t a complicated project or very involved, I know Melissa will love them.  They cost me very little to make as I used scraps, but I know they will be appreciated.  I hope you all have a fabulous beginning to a new week!
