The second half of Acts of Love

I had a very busy day! I spent it with my 2 year old grandson and he is a ball of energy.  I am very tired grandma as I write this for all of you tomorrow.  I had a ball with Chaz and am so grateful to have this little boy in my life.  I wouldn’t trade the day we had today for anything.  He is very special.

So here are the last pages of my Acts of Love tag book.  First I want to back up and take a look at the cover.  After I finished it yesterday, I thought the ring looked awfully bare and added some ribbons and fibers. It did help.

That’s it for this project, but I’ll be back tomorrow with something new and I hope inspiring!

Acts of Love—a tag book for 14 days

When I showed you all my Valentine’s Box, I told you that I do something nice for my husband every day for the 14 day leading up to and including Valentines Day.  This year I am upping the ante and trying to add acts of service and love besides my little gifts.  I’ve created this little tag book to set on our family room coffee table to remind me to serve him in love.

We’ve been married for 38 years, and it’s so easy to forget to treat my husband as special as I did when I was trying to win his love.  I feel pretty confident in his love, but I want to keep putting love deposits in his love bank and treating him like a king will do that.

I’m going to show half of the book today and half tomorrow simply because I don’t have the time to post all the pictures.  P1070847

It’s a very simple little book.  I used a tag from Tags, Boxes and Bags and custom size to about 6” long and 4 1/2” wide.  I cut lots of swirls, hearts, butterflies and birds to use while embellishing it.  I used Gypsy Font for the title of the book and some rhinestone swirls as well as a Prima flower from my stash on the cover.

The paper was a package I bought on clearance at Archivers last spring when my husband and I took a little trip to Chicago.  It’s a Cosmo Cricket pack called Everafter and really is a wedding collection, but I don’t have any wedding pictures I wanted to scrap with it and thought I could adapt it to Valentine’s Day.  It worked out nicely.  I really love Cosmo Cricket.

I used I Corinthians 13 as a basis for the book and have put part of the chapter on each page.  I wrote some act of service for each day on the tags, and I will share those with you tomorrow.

Right now I’m just going to show you pictures for the first 7 days.

OK, so really simple, right! More tomorrow!

A Super hero and a fuzzy Kitty

OR two Christmas tags.

I am suffering from the too much to do and not enough energy or time.  But after I got home from work last night and made some yummy ham, corn and potato chowder for supper, I hurried into my little pink studio and made these two tags.

I have tags to make for the gifts for at least 13 people and usually I make a set of the 5 or 6 tags and make multiples, but this year because I have so much time and abundant energy Smile with tongue out I thought it might be fun to stretch my creative gene and make special tags for each person—maybe just one per person and then crank out my usual tags.  I’m sharing the 2 I created last night.  Hope you like them.

The Hello Kitty tag measures about 7 inches!  I know—Huge!  The Superman tag is only about 3.5 inches.

I used Hello Kitty Greetings for the Kitty tag and Superman for the Superman tag.  The hat comes from Christmas Cheer and the base for the Hello Kitty tag comes from Gypsy Wanderings. I love the way this tag turned out and it wasn’t hard to put together because I cut the kitty out at 4”. That reindeer cut is adorable.

The patterned paper is from last year’s Premium DCWV Christmas stack which if you are interested is still available at Joann.com  for $5.99 if you hurry!  The card stock is all scraps from my scrap drawers.

And there you have an example of my horrible stamping.

This cut is from the Superman cart and was perfect for a Christmas tag because of the wreath like border around the emblem.  I just welded the Santa cap onto the yellow base and then cut out and glued the hat in place.  I like it!

Now I’ve just got to come up with a few more special tags!

Blessings

We all have them and usually take so little time to think about how truly  blessed we are! As I was creating this banner I did take the time to think about how blessed I am .  That’s what Thanksgiving is about.  We come together in the abundance of our blessings to remember and possibly to think about where we would be without all the things every day that cushion our lives in some way.

Here is my Blessings banner.  I really like the way it turned out.  However, it is long and was hard to get a whole picture of, so the first picture is just a picture of the whole thing.

P1070136

Oh, I am going to have adjust that banner when I get home, and I am really not sure where I want to put it.  For now it hangs in my family room very lop sided.

Now here’s a close up!

P1070139

EW!  Blurry!  That’s what I get for photographing it at night with no natural light and in a hurry.

The base of this banner started with a tag from Gypsy Wanderings cut at 6.75 and 4.75”.  Since I got my Gypsy, I’ve used the designer tag feature so many times I can not count.  It’s got great tags and in so many shapes.  I also used Sports Mania for the pennant shape at 5”x 3“, and because I don’t have Tie the Knot, I took the scalloped border from Accent Essentials and used two for each side at 3.45 x .45,  and welded it to the sides of the pennant. Then I cut a regular pennant out just a smidge smaller.  The scalloped circle cut at 2.91 x3.22 is from Mini Monograms, and I can’t remember where I got the leaf swirl.  The fonts used are Cuttin Up and Blackletter.  I used pop dots between the layers.

The patterned paper is from a fall stack of DCWV from several years ago and the card stock is a mixture of Bazzill and Core’dinations.  I used some Stickles on the leaves and the ribbon is Hobby Lobby from their fall collection a couple of years ago.  I love the colors and think it turned out quite striking in appearance.

OK, on with some more close ups.

Hey, where do I sit?

Well, you sit over there by that pumpkin!  He he he!

OK, OK, I will cut the cuttin up!  No I didn’t use Cuttin’ Up for this project.  I used my pumpkin cut file from my wreath, made it smaller and made place cards for my Thanksgiving table.

P1070113

How did I do that! I am going to tell you.  I started with my pumpkin file made with George and cut 105!  I have 15 people sitting at my table this Thanksgiving and for each place card I need 7 pumpkins.  P1070103

Yeah! My expression hummed along for quite a long time.  Once they were all cut, I dragged out my Cuttlebug and embossed each one of all 105 pumpkins with my Dotted Swiss A2 folder. Sigh!  Yes, my arm did get tired!  OK you’re right. Not really!

P1070108

After embossing I folded each of the 105 pumpkins in half.  I know I keep saying 105!  I can’t help it!  That’s a lot of pumpkins!  After folding I trimmed the bottom of each pumpkin so that each pumpkin would sit even.  Can you see the trim? I had originally intended to ink these with gold ink, but I changed my mind.  I mean, come on . . . 105!  P1070117

At this point I glued them together and added a green stem to each pumpkin.

I also cut three of each parts of the actual name plates. This cut came from Gypsy Wanderings and was cut at 3x2”. The leaf paper is the back and the green the front with the beige name plate.  P1070112Then I stamped the name plate with a Basic Grey $1 stamp, wrote each person’s name on the name plate, and added faux stitching.   The name plate is attached with a paper clip.

P1070113

Turned out sort of cute!  Now to finish all of them!
